Description
Working on Amsterdam’s IJ
Having produced fertilizer along Amsterdam’s IJ since 1900, B2A is transforming the former ICL location into 14 building blocks, regenerating this former port area in Amsterdam's IJ to accommodate the demands of Industry 4.0. Part of an 85.000m2 masterplan for Fosfaatweg, the development includes ground level sustainable industrial warehouse and storage halls as well as office program. These new activities mark a new era for this industrial peninsula in transition.
The design concept incorporates the office program in a layer of offices on top of each block, and enhances their corners by including several office floors with deep terraces, and generous views over the IJ. The introduction of the different plinth heights provides a dynamic and rhythmic company ensemble for the 14 blocks.
Large corner window openings further emphasise the building corners, and the terraces not only offer a magnificent view over the IJ, but also ample outdoor spaces for the building's occupants. Inside, abundant daylighting and views ensure a healthy and stimulating work environment that enhances worker comfort and productivity.
