Description

Revitalization Office Building in ‘s-Hertogenbosch

A challenging proposal for an existing office building in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The location is on the edge of an office working park in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The building is originally developed in the 90’s following a straightforward form follow function concept, with some postmodern characteristics.

Within the zoning law there is a possibility to extend the building. The design concept consists of a new volume on both sides of the existing building. This new added volume gives an opportunity to make a new sustainable, well insulated and high-profile office façade expression. On the direction of the highway, the new added office program is overlooking the spacious landscape qualities beyond the highway.

Working with the existing building’s proportions, the new design gives the appearance of two distinct courtyards, similar in size and creating a relation between new and old. The courtyards in between define the new main entrance on the ground level where the conference centers and canteen are located.

Within the building new program is added for working and servant facilities. A clear organizational concept is introduced to acquire a flexible division of different compartments in tenant situations.

The new façade gives a warm and off standard office quality, especially for companies wanting to identify themselves with sustainable and circular materials. The wooden rhythmic structure articulates the office structural concept.
