Description
A design study for a facade refurbishment addresses a 1975 tower structure’s concrete slab monotony.
The study proposes three design interventions: one that extends the existing horizontal structure’s rigid language and from a distance, one with that blends building and sky with a misty material expression. Finally, the addition of a continuous façade canopy at ground floor creates a sheltered condition for surrounding public space .
Upon approaching the tower form, an articulated rigid metal patterned structure comes into resolution, inciting visual curiosity. The refurbished facade form invites opportunities for a more habitable building, enabling residential conversion.
